The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pushed up the rate of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one business is taking advantage of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
