The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pushed up the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is taking benefit of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
