MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said "a number of small companies in Cornwall currently generate income from used cooking oil".

He added: "In order to have the ability to get this kind of market going it does need simply a bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inescapable."
