The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the rate of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
